ALPHA COURSE
For many years now we have been running the Alpha course, the nationally advertised course that answers enquirers' questions about the basics of the Christian faith. One or two courses will be running in 2006 here at St Johns, so do contact Jon Salmon (735332) if you are interested in joining or know someone else who is.
"THE YEAR OF EQUIPPING"
Within the first year of someone joining St Johns we try to provide training that will help Christian growth and maturity in the shortest possible time. Mostly this training is done on a one-to-one basis through material, with a friend from their cell group. Material such as the Journey Guide, Roots (a Christian basic course), the 121/2 Steps and various more specialised courses are provided.
For some years now we have been using the 121/2 Steps as part of our Discipleship Course. It is designed to "clear the rubbish out of our lives and help us grow towards spiritual maturity". It is explained in Howard's book, which takes us through each Step and gives instructions at the end of each chapter to enable us to move forward and deal with the issues that will surface.
