X:Stream
X:Stream is the Youth Congregation of St John's Bowling and meets each Friday night at the youth centre E:merge, Parsonage Road Laisterdyke. One week ther is a full congregational meeting with band and activitiesw and cells, then the next week these cells meet at various locations across Bowling and Laisterdyke to take things deeper. Many young people attend the local secondary schools and we have a special link with the Bradford Academy where Robert Taylor is the Chaplain. St John's has seen contacts made with young people through the projects Youth Base and E:merge. These 2 projects are now working together under thye name E:merge and this in turn is part of the Olive Branch Trust www.olivebranchtrust.com
HOLY COMMUNION FOR CHILDREN
Within St John's children are able to share in Holy Communion according to the Church of England guidelines. The guidelines on the admission of children to Holy Communion make it clear that before a child is first brought to Holy Communion, he or she should be carefully prepared and the significance of the occasion should be explained to his/her parents. The child should be receiving Christian teaching and worshipping regularly at the church with his/her parents. If your child would like to take Holy Communion at St John's, we ask:
Firstly, that you talk and pray about it with your child.
Secondly, speak to Carol Barwick (Children's Coordinator - see above) who will give you further details.
Robert and
Georgina Taylor
Sharon De Villiers and Georgina Taylor have oversight of all the young people and children's activities
at St John's. They can be contacted on 01274 660244
Since the change and expansion of St Johns Cell Church we have also been able to increase the volume and accessibility of the children's work. In each congregation we aim to encourage the children to participate fully in church life, believing that children and adults have a lot to learn and teach each other.
Carol Barwick is our children's coordinator and oversees the work across the congregations and also has a high profile in all the local primary schools. She can be contactedf on 01132715744
We also believe that God wants to fully use children throughout the church and so we encourage children not only to attend but to lead cell groups as the adults do.
Childen’s work is also happening outside of the church as we begin to filter into the local primary schools via assemblies and relational work. On Saturday there is a well attended Kidz Klub that meet at a local church , www.kidzklubbradford.org.uk
